Reddit, X/Twitter, Facebook… I’m here to get away from all of those.

Lemmy, Kbin, Mastodon and the rest of the Fediverse doesn’t have to exist in contrast to other social media.

    It can just be.

There’s a couple communities that I have blocked perky because they’re importing posts from reddit. Not screenshots, but years to decades old posts that are archived. All the power to you to waste your server space, but do it quietly.

I just joined lemme.ee today and just saw that…smh.

Why are they doing that? I think it was r/games or something. Just lots and lots of automated posts…what’s the point? It just seems to destroy the chance of community and engagement if it’s just doing that. What’s the strategy that I’m not understanding?

I think it’s to spark discussion among users

For me all those bot accounts got annoying quick so I disabled them

You should do that on a server you control so you can set timestamps and all correctly while importing directly to the DB, not just automate posting of it all

Funny thing is… I posted one of these on Bluesky.

Leave twitter to escape Elon, go to Bluesky

      Look inside

And much more annoying since most of the posts about Reddit at least have some sort of substance beyond the mention itself…

A LITTLE late? “Stop talking about Reddit” has consistently been the number one most common post category here since the July exodus.

They’re becoming MUCH more common and indeed much more of a nuisance than the excessive talk about Reddit they’re complaining about. Sorta like all the self-appointed repost detectives of both Reddit and here.

Most people that post about Reddit are newcomers that are frustrated with the old platform and just want to vent. Posts like that are often their first ones: you should just let them vent a little and welcome them, instead of stifling them immediatly.
That’s how you get a steady flow of new users.

I’m very impressed with startrek.website. The community appears to me to have completely forgotten about Reddit altogether.
