“See! Here’s one example of mass murder where it wasn’t a gun, therefore guns are okay and I’m gonna get my 4yo niece a mini machine gun, in pink.”

“If only someone had a gun then they could have shot him”

Forgetting that he would have then likely had a gun himself and we end up at the exact same situation in the US with Mass Shootings happening so regularly it doesn’t even make national news.

Kinda goes to prove the point that all these killings aren’t a gun issue since mass killing is possible either way (its just easier with a gun). Taking guns away would be akin to placing society in a giant old school mental asylum where we are all in straight jackets. Sure we would all be killing each other a lot less when we are in straight jackets all day, but it doesn’t stop the violent thoughts and ideation.

Mass killings are always going to happen. The difference is that it’s a lot harder to kill a lot of people with a knife than it is with a automatic handgun or rifle. Effective range of a knife is maybe 1-2 metres. Effective range of a gun is hundreds of metres.

Port Arthur Massacre, mass shooting in and around Port Arthur, Tasmania, Australia, on April 28–29, 1996, that left 35 people dead and some 18 wounded; the gunman, Martin Bryant, was later sentenced to 35 life terms.

This resulted in the tightening of our gun laws and what firearms can be owned by who and under what licence.

Has prevented a repeat since. Touch wood.

Also owning guns is easy in Australia I have several
