Really enjoying Memmy too! Dev seems to be moving at a quick pace. The app is already functional and getting better each day

Both memmy and mlem have been great in their own ways thus far. Both are in testflight and getting regular updates, in addition to the news about sync there is also news about another new one called artemis that is aiming to be apollo styled.

How have I not found this!?

I wanted to check out Mlem, but it’s full. Lemur I think is discontinued. There is one that’s coming called Artemis, but that’s not available yet.

Memmy is honestly just what I was looking for. Cheers!

I’ve been testing both and I definitely prefer Memmy overall. Mlem has better image display options and has search. Memmy doesn’t display images unless you tap on the post. Search should be released in the next day or two, though.

Artemis being an Apollo clone had me very excited, though.

Edit: new app just released on TestFlight showing real promise: Limbo

This is exactly why I never pick iphones, because a good chunk of the time you miss out on all the niche things you can do on a smartphone.

I never pic up an iPhone because Mac discontinued support for my $6000 editing computer within two years when they scrapped the mac towers and went laptop only.

2011 Mac Pro, which was discontinued in 2012, while support for the design was fully discontinued in 2013, when mac decided it would completely change everything and focus on the trash can design.

I get upgrading and whatever the fuck, but this was supposed to be an upgradeable machine, like a user built pc, but then they just fucking dumped support within 2 years, which should be fucking criminal considering its outrageous price.

Lol we still have these an my company.

It doesn’t make my life as a network engineer hell at all, having to figure out how to make decade old technology fit into a fiber network in a windows environment.

I would not get your hopes up. The last I heard the rumor said that you would only be able to side load on an iPhone if it was activated on a European carrier

Please let that also be a Lemmy instance, Lemmy needs horizontal distributed scaling.

This is how I’ve been thinking Lemmy can scale. Sync can host their own instance funded by premium subscribers. In other cases, a group of friends with common local interests can host an instance with their local channels plus caching posts on other instances, and peoppe could connect to that or lemmy.world for free and see the same content.

It’s nice that we can have all these choices for 3rd party clients that won’t end up getting screwed over due to a central authority.

And Jerboa probably won’t be updated for a while with the devs so busy working on Lemmy.

It’s made by the main Lemmy developer, but it’s his personal project and not the official Lemmy android client. He’s been making some controversial commits on Jerboa in the past on the basis that it’s his personal project, so he can do as he please (unlike Lemmy which is funded by a foundation).

Can you elaborate on the “controversial commits”? I’m on iOS so haven’t been following anything on the Android side

Actually, a new Android client called Thunder has entered Alpha. It’s SEVERELY lacking in features as of now, though.

Happy for Android users, but for those that don’t know, on iOS, we have three apps in beta we can download, and all three are very good with the current state they are in. I suggest giving anyone of them a try.

Memmy Join the Memmy App beta - TestFlight - Apple https://testflight.apple.com/join/6jaRU6rD

Mlem Join the Mlem beta - Testing Apps with TestFlight https://testflight.apple.com/join/xQfmkJhc

Feature rich. Basically whatever way you want to view Reddit, it has it. It also played videos much better for me than the official app. Very customizable and great ease of use.

For me, it was the swipe quick actions, true black dark theme, and how the comments were nested.

It just felt right 12 years ago, I’ll insta buy again

The official community is on Lemmy.world/c/syncforlemmy

    There’s also a subreddit r/syncforlemmy

I dare say he’ll be wanting to get out a functional app before implementing things like support for Kbin. Bjt it’s worth requesting it as the more who, perhaps the more priority it will get.

That would make spez so incredibly angry. And then promoting it on reddit in his subreddit and then people posting it to the apple sub would make me not surprised if he banned Apollo sub out of anger.

Same! I hope he’s considering it… Lemmy + Apollo would make it 1000x more attractive for Reddit users to enjoy Reddit without the management team’s constant fuckery.

After everything that happened, let the man enjoy his forced vacation for like a year before going back into the fray.
