Local & state level is where a lot of the progress will live on in the near future. Call your local legislators & vote in every local election - they are way more frequent across the country than you may realize

Sure, not knowing it’s the US constitution is reasonable if not from the US
However, I think one could take a reasonable guess that if the first word of a constitution wasn’t a pronoun, this post probably wasn’t about that specific constitution
The US constitution. Thought it said US in the post itself, but I suppose it technically didn’t clarify
In any case, they more than 99% likely mean the US constitution given how US-centric social media is, and how the US constitution’s start of “we the people” is fairly well known in the US
There are no headers before this. The “we the people” is actually quite large too
Don’t do Trump’s work for him by spreading apathy and dispair. He wants us complacent and to forget the power we have. He is far weaker than he seems so he has to project absolute power. Don’t give anything to him for free
Local and state officals can enforce laws on their own without federal involvement
Assuming everything is doomed to fail is exactly what Trump and Musk want from you. They want you to stop fighting or trying because you might realize they are weaker than you think. Don’t do their work for them
The state and local is where most of the progress is going to happen in the next 4 years. They control a lot more than you think - even including running elections for federal office. Pay attention to all your local elections - they are going to matter a lot
EDIT: While I’m here, going to mention there are local elections in some localities across the US tomorrow (feb 25th) in parts of California, Connecticut, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, & Maine
Here’s a substack post with more info about those local elections
Still slows down some of their other goals. Attention and resources aren’t infinite. The more they wear themselves thin on things that don’t matter / have less bad outcomes, the better
Related note: There are some good vegan eggs out there to give a try!
If you want something that cooks and bakes like eggs there’s stuff you can by like Just Egg
For baking there’s a million things you can use that are pretty cheap. For instance, Aquafaba is the leftover water from cooking chickpeas or the water in the can if you buy it canned. Acts like egg whites and can be used as a binder for baking
And note it doesn’t say additional troops nor note how many are already there
I’m not sure how many are currently there but they’ve previously had higher numbers. Like in 2019 they sent 15k
That’s missing what I’m saying
They’re giving Trump’s spin in reporting inadvertently or not
They’re not providing context for how much of a change (or not) Mexico actually is making
The only source in this article is Trump saying this is what happened. Don’t trust what Trump is saying directly. He’s already previously mislead to make it seem like other countries caved when they really did almost nothing
Or instead there are also some good vegan eggs out there to give a try

The good news is that some progress has been made in the US. The semi-recent (2022) FDA modernization act 2.0 removes mandates for animal testing in law and allows other testing methods to be used instead
There’s another bill (FDA modernization act 3.0) that was just reintroduced a few days ago to not just allow the FDA to use non-animal testing, but to require that the FDA start actually working to allow it and setup pathways, rules, requirements, etc. And prioritize the review of drugs done via approved non-animal testing
It includes various reporting, safety, etc. requirements laid out so it wouldn’t just be handing it blindly to the current admin
The 2.0 act was suprisingly bipartisan, so it’s not a given that the 3.0 act would be doomed. Call your house representative and senators to make sure it gets through!
But but it worked on my machine
In 2004, the FDA estimated that 92 percent of drugs that pass preclinical tests, including “pivotal” animal tests, fail to proceed to the market.More recent analysis suggests that, despite efforts to improve the predictability of animal testing, the failure rate has actually increased and is now closer to 96 percent
We’ve solved ethics. Pack it up everyone
The fight against horrible things often benefits from people doing the right thing for the dumbest of reasons
Not completely true, unfortunately. I’ve seen my fair share of them on here before
They are doing a lot of these things, the media is just barely covering it. Here’s that coverage brought up higher. Could they and should they do more, absolutely and do put directed pressure them to do more, but let’s not pretend they are doing nothing. That just creates defeatism instead of the energy we need to keep the pressure up
Handful of the lawsuits that you probably didn’t hear about:
Democratic AGs win preliminary injunction against DOGE access to Treasury payment systems
Gov. Josh Shapiro Says Over $2 Billion of Federal Funding Is Unfrozen for Pennsylvania (following PA’s lawsuit)
20 Dem AGs sue over Trump efforts to fire probationary employees
Democratic AGs sue over cancellation of teacher grants
More than a dozen state attorneys general file lawsuit challenging Musk and DOGE’s authority
Democratic attorneys general sue to block Trump’s attempt to end birthright citizenship
Democratic National Committee Files Lawsuit Against Trump
And so many more. There are an insane number of lawsuits going on right now
In delay tactics, they could do more, but they have now starting using them. It’s more than zero that’s for sure. Keep the pressure up here for them to do more. Call your reps to deny unanimous consent more often - it’s starting to get through a bit. Here’s a few examples
Senate Democrats Hold Floor In All-Night Protest of Trump’s OMB Nominee (they held it for the maximum 30 hours)
Scoop: Senate Dems delay Tulsi Gabbard nomination (were able to do so because of some procedural stuff with how she filed her clearance)
Senate Democrats delay Kash Patel committee vote
In terms of protests, they are also speaking and rallying at them with again limited coverage. Here’s a few
Democrats Protest Outside USAID Headquarters as Trump Seeks to Dismantle Agency
Democrats and protesters rally outside treasury department to protest Elon Musk’s access to sensitive information – as it happened
Dems protesting outside the department of education, trying to get in and denied entry
Dems protesting outside of the EPA
And so on
