The orange bastard thinks Junior is one and the same, except Junior is more of a Marcos family nerd of sorts, while his sister Imee is now also his archenemy and allied to Duterte, and happens to inherit much more of her father’s egomania.

Nonetheless, they are both successful beneficiaries of mass disinformation and hatred. The thing is, however, in terms of political stability the Philippines now seems a lot milder compared to the mounting ongoing oppression in the US.

Seems less like not understanding and more like intentionally misconstruing because you dont like him.

There’s more than enough insane takes he makes that we dont have to make things up to call him on.

During the president’s roughly hour-long address at the Tuesday night event, he predicted the policies of his administration could lead to as much as a 1,000% decrease in drug prices for Americans, if his plan comes to fruition.

Bc this guy understands english? He said they will not pay tariffs in the philippines then, they will pay 19%. Bro’s brain is paste.

I don’t see that anywhere in the link you posted. It’s a link about drug prices which doesn’t seem to reference The Phillipines at all.

He’s saying that from the Filipino perspective it will be open market, and they won’t institute a tariff on American goods, then continues on saying that Filipino goods will have a 19% tariff on them.

It’s not the clearest thing in the world, but still easy enough to understand if you try in the least bit.

The Phillipines will pay a 19% tariff.

It’s in black and white in his post. America, I assume, will pay 0% for filipino goods. That would hurt the Philippines.

Most of their import come from China and other asian countries1. Most american products is too expensive the Philippines. Increasing tensions and a current American population that is 100% anti-american involvement in war is bad for the Philippines. He will not come to their aid. Hell the Philippines lost extreme import usaid bc of this bitch2.

Also the drug price qoute shows he is a fucking idiot with math and it is in the second paragraph.

No shit he doesn’t care a lick about The Phillipines or drug proces or literally anything but his own self-interest, but that’s not what you said. You said he contradicted himself by saying zero and then nineteen. But he said The Phillipines would approach American products with an open market, and the American market would put a 19% tariff on goods for the Phillipines. Misconstruing that very simple statement is either a bone head interpretation or an intentional misrepresentation of what he said.

Which is, frankly, mystifying cause what he’s actually saying is still deeply harmful and self-involved. The only reason I can fathom for making that kind of vapid interpretation is to continue a trend of isolating and fanaticizing the two sides even more, which only benefits those who don’t want an beneficial resolution to this garbage train of a decade.

Steel man him a little harder?

OPEN MARKET 0 TARRIF —-> the Philippines will pay 19% tariff . You really don’t see how that’s a little unclear?

A little unclear, yes, but not so unclear that someone couldn’t discern what he means with a little basic thought put into it.

This is just nonsense, no matter who said it. The fact that somebody who usually misrepresents and lies about basically everything doesn’t help.

I think he is saying that America pays 0% tax to Philippines while they in return pay 19% tax for all American goods.

Yeah, but that’s just him saying the Philippines pays for the Tariffs, which is false. He set a 19% Tariff on goods bought by U.S. companies for products coming from the Philippines.

Hypothetical: So if McDonald’s buys potatoes from the Philippines for $1.

They pay $1.19. 19 cents to the treasury of the U.S., $1 to the Philippines company they bought from.

So then McDonald’s sells those products and recooperates the cost, by selling the fries to us for more, to make up the 19 cents lost.

It hurts the Philippines by making it more expensive to buy from them, it hurts us by our costs going up. The idea is that maybe it will be cheaper to get the potatos here in the U.S. instead… but it would still cost higher than $1.19 to get them here, so they would still buy them from there…and pay more

Thanks for explaining it. Makes sense now. This is what Trump has been advocating previously, in hopes to increase domestic production.

Yeah unfortunately it only works if the wages in the country you are buying from are close enough to the U.S. that 19% would offset the difference.

As an example the largest export of the Philippines is Coconut oil.

            Phillipines production cost - $1.65-$2.14/kg

            U.S. production cost- $3.04-6.70/kg

So we would have to have at minimum 84% tariffs for the costs to break even, then we would need large areas of land (able to grow them) to dedicate to the $2 billion dollars worth of coconut oil we import from there, and a labor group who would produce it … which would require the workers we are currently deporting.

So the numbers show, he just taxed companies 19% in the U.S. in coconut oil, which they will pass on to U.S. citizens in the sales price. Because it is still way cheaper than us making it here, so no new jobs will be created

No that’s not what he’s saying.

If you live in the US and you want to buy coconut milk from Philippines you will have to pay a 10% tariff.

If you live in the Philippines and buy whatever thing the US produces you will pay no tariff.

        Its the dumbest self-own.
