Cats for scale.
Ah I see the confusion here. Your new cat box comes with a free keyboard.
It wasn’t exactly free, but yes 😁
i mean you paid for the cat house, did you not?
Probably confused why you bought packaged air, when your whole house is full of air already
Ah, they had to check it out
They probably ran out of the smaller size boxes. Rather than holding your package, the puller grabbed whatever was available that it would fit in.
Just be glad it came in a cardboard box, and not one of those plastic envelopes that can’t be easily recycled.
Nah, Galaxus and Brack (biggest online retailers here) pull that regularly. At least they use those cardboard-paper things for filling now. Plastic pillows were a hassle to dispose of, had to cut sometimes whole rolls of them if you don’t want to fill 3 trash sacks.
Yeah I work at a pet store and one of hold duties was pack up boxes for UPS or FedEx, basically flip flopping from retail helping customers to packing
Anyways sometimes we’d run low and have to pack a tiny bird toy into a box made for a 30lb bag of dog food
Other times we had to sometimes tape 2 boxes together becuase the tall box (made for stuff like dog poop rake kits) was to narrow, and the wide boxes for aforementioned dog food was too short
It’s because of fancy algorithms and waste reduction, not laziness and capitalism. That’s what Jeff Bezos told me.
Always figured that was the case, no joke. Ever try to automate anything even slightly complex? Edge cases and weird shit crops up all the time. Maybe something in the product description triggered this ridiculous box.
People doing the packing probably don’t have a path to get the occasional issue resolved, and likely don’t care.
Going by their job interview questions it probably has something to do with optimally packing boxes in a truck
Sometimes it’s due to the battery shipping label that’s required for lithium batteries. They need a box big enough to fit it as it’s a fixed size and needs to fit on one side of the box.
That label is only 5" square at most, though. You don’t need a microwave sized box for that.
For some reason it didn’t click how oversized the box is. More likely they ran out of smaller ones then, or some shitty algorithm said this was the “most economical” box.
You’re totally right. I’m guessing it’s from Amazon, the company that thought sending us bulk bag breakfast cereal in an unpadded shipping bag was a good idea. We now have enough free corn flake breading for years, though!
Last week, my new wallet came in shoebox size box.
Looks good. What kind is that?
This kind 😁
Oh sorry, I meant what kind of box?
The cardboard kind? 🤷
Looks sweet. Do you have experience with this brand? I need a new keyboard
I have a few and they’re good keyboards, especially at that price point. Keychron went from producing niche lower-quality stuff to broad range and improved quality and (from what i hear) back to unreliable products for the past year or so due to cost cutting. So look for a bit older models, I suppose.
Keychron seems to be a pretty decent keyboard brand from my minimal research when I was looking to get a new one, myself! I ultimately went with something else because I couldn’t quite find what I was looking for with them, but they were def on my shortlist.
Will you share your final selection, dingus?
Sure thing! I went with the Royal Kludge M75 wireless keyboard in this cool green and white keycap pattern with their “pale green” tactile switches.
I was looking for these things really:
- Cool yet tasteful aesthetics
- A 75% form factor (no numpad, compact while retaining arrow keys and function row…I want my mouse hand to sit close to my keyboard)
- Tactile key switches (they have a satisfying tactile “bump” sensation when you press down on them, but aren’t insanely loud like “clicky” key switches)
- Something that isn’t breaking the bank…currently this is 70 USD on Amazon
- Wireless and wired capability
It met everything I was looking for and had some pretty good reviews on YouTube, so I pulled the trigger. Keychron seems to be higher quality than some of these, but it just didn’t have the interesting color schemes I was looking for. It also seems to tend to cost more. My PC case is green so it complements it well. The tactile switches are very satisfying to type on imo!
Thanks!
Any time! Hope you find something you enjoy!
Nice. A Keychron
Ain’t this kinda good tho? Use the extra cardboard for crafts and stuff or pass it down
